Jun 13, 2022 · You will absolutely never get a virus off of archive.org. they do not allow the storages of viruses of any type and besides, there's another website for archiving viruses. Even if you did, or could rather, it would usually be a very old virus that most likely won't work effectively on a modern system.

All digitized books for example, are only available if they are in the public domain (ie. no longer under copyright). However, unlike brick and mortar libraries, the Internet Archive wants to lend digitized versions of copyrighted works.

The Internet Archive's digital collections include more than 40 petabytes of data: 340 billion Web pages, moving images (2.2 million films and videos), audio (3.5 million recordings, 170,000 live concerts), texts (14 million texts including 3 million digital books), software (100,000 items) and television (5 million hours).

Oct 20, 2014 · As far as I managed to use this (in May 2017), it just recovers what archive.is holds, and pretty much ignores what is at archive.org; it also tries to get documents and images from the Google/Yahoo caches but utterly fails. Warrick has been cloned several times on GitHub since Google Code shut down, maybe there are some better versions there.

Jul 15, 2020 · Most of your regular internet traffic is encrypted (excluding torrents). All your ISP can see is what what web page you're on and how big are the packet sizes. If you're directly downloading something directly from archive.org with an HTTPS connection, they won't know what you're downloading, just that you're on archive.org and are downloading ...

And just wait until the European Union gets involved. In much of the EU, everything the Internet Archive does could probably qualify as computer trespassing. And then you have GDPR, right-to-be-forgotten, hate speech laws, Chat Control, and so on. One of the biggest risks with the lawsuits is that they keep the Internet Archive in the media.

This is one of my favourite things on the Internet, full stop. So here are some recommendations I haven't seen yet: House on Haunted Hill - Classic 60s' Vincent Price horror. Plan 9 From Outer Space - I don't want to ever live in a world without this movie. The Little Princess - Shirley Temple's a bit cloying in this, but it's still lovely.
